Klint insurance guide
Read travel insurance before the trip
Short answer: Travel insurance can address specified cancellation, interruption, medical, evacuation or baggage risks. It does not automatically cover every reason for changing a trip, and destination, timing and policy conditions can affect eligibility.
Separate the benefits you are comparing
Trip cancellation and interruption usually depend on covered reasons in the contract. Travel medical and evacuation benefits address different costs. Baggage coverage can have limits and may coordinate with other protection.
For example, wanting to change a holiday is not necessarily an insured reason for cancellation. A “cancel for any reason” option, if offered, can have its own purchase timing, cancellation conditions and partial-reimbursement terms.
Check existing health cover and exclusions
Do not assume your US health plan covers routine care abroad, emergency transportation or repatriation. Verify destination restrictions, pre-existing-condition provisions, excluded activities and the required claim documents.
Travel requirements differ by destination and nationality. This US-focused overview is not visa advice, a guarantee of entry or a substitute for the current official destination rules.
Questions before buying
- Which reasons for cancellation or interruption are covered?
- What are the medical and evacuation limits, exclusions and deductibles?
- When must the policy be purchased, and when does cover begin?
- Is emergency help available, and how are claims reported?
- Which benefits duplicate existing credit-card or insurance protection?
